Chris Martin: A Trumpeter for All the Ages

Christopher Martin, Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, is a "Trumpeter for all the Ages." In addition to occupying one of the most prestigious seats in all the world of orchestral playing, Chris is a native of Cobb County, GA and played in the the Sprayberry HS Band under the direction of his uncle, Dan Martin. From a very talented family, Chris' dad, Freddy and mom Lynda are both professional musicians and his brother Michael plays trumpet with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Chris is a wonderful gentleman and is as kind and cheerful as he is a excellent musician. Prior to his appointment in the NY Phil, he was formerly Principal Trumpet in the Chicago and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras. He was also Assistant Principal in Philadelphia. The phrase by Rudyard Kipling aptly applies, "...if you can walk with kings and lose the common touch." Bravo, Chris. We are all very proud of you.
